 Welcome to the website of Toronto based writer Anand Mahadevan.
Anand was born in India. At seventeen he moved to the United States where he completed his undergraduate and graduate work on the east coast. He has also studied in Germany, Switzerland and Canada. He was a Canada-US Fulbright Fellow at Boston University's acclaimed MFA program in Creative Writing.
Since 2002, Anand lives and works in Toronto. His writing explores the nature of the immigrant experience and the role of kinship ties to understand better the marginalization of individuals within social structures.
Anand has taught writing at the Advanced Fiction Workshop at Etobicoke campus of Humber College as well as at the University of Toronto and Boston University. He also reviews new fiction for the Tottenville Review.
He is a proud member of the Writer's Union of Canada as well as of PEN Canada.
